There’s one thing I’ve noticed about the aftermarket automotive parts industry over the years and I’m here to let you know about it—enthusiasts like to spend thousands of dollars on adding more horsepower to their rides, and still hold onto the same factory sport steering wheel they use every day. I didn’t get that. The most important physical interface between driver and machine is the steering wheel. It goes through every acceleration, every corner, every correction.
Why is it so often forgotten?

My answer is yes.
Unfortunately, not for all.

Yet, if you’re looking for something that enhances every aspect of your driving experience, from appearance to feeling to enjoyment to personalization and even to vehicle quality, few upgrades offer more.
This is why carbon fiber steering wheels have become popular among the BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Tesla, Toyota GR and Nissan performance communities.
The value proposition isn’t just a matter of appearance.
Carbon fiber steering wheels also increase performance in the driving experience by cutting down weight on the steering wheel, improving grip, making it more responsive and offering better driver feedback due to optimized ergonomics and high quality surface materials. These carry all of the benefits of more accurate steering inputs, as well as improved steering control on the track, in more spirited driving and everyday motoring.
Furthermore, better hand positioning, less fatigue and better steering accuracy in challenging situations are added advantages.
Custom carbon fibre steering wheels are safe when produced with automotive grade materials, proper engineering, standards, and fitment systems. Production quality, testing procedures, compatibility with the airbag and installation accuracy are the factors that govern safety in this case and not carbon fiber.
Standard of reputation and proven experience, OEM fitment, should be considered as a priority for buyers.
Average carbon fiber steering wheel prices are between $500 and $2,500 and vary greatly based on material, vehicle compatibility, LED integration, leather options, paddle shifter upgrades and complexity of the customization. Handcrafted premium wheels might cost more due to the manual labor and effort that is needed to create them.
